Polishing & Satinising

Polishing tools and the corresponding solid or liquid polishing compounds, to achieve any surface from matt to high-gloss, using hand-held equipment, stationary lathes, flatbed machines or robots, for trade or industrial applications.

Polishing and Satinising

From matt to high gloss, Osborn polishing rings and carefully matched solid and liquid polishing compounds create the desired surface finish. Our polishing and satin finishing tools are designed for use on hand-held equipment, stationary lathes, flatbed machines or robots, for trade or industrial applications.

In addition, we also offer small polishing retail-kits for household and hobby use for polishing metal, acrylic and enamel by hand.

The following generally applies:

For polishing, in addition to the appropriate polishing tool, a polishing compound is selected that matches the material of the workpiece to be processed and the polishing step. In most cases, polishing is a three-step process (cutting, polishing, colouring).

No polishing compound is used for satin finishing. Depending on the desired surface finish, coarse, fine or very fine abrasive fleece wheels are used.

Cutting

Cutting is the first step in a three-step polishing process. Defects and deep scratches on the surface of the workpiece are removed.

Polishing

Polishing is the second step in a 3-step polishing process. Here, cut marks and traces from the pre-polishing process are removed and the surface is levelled.

Colouring

Creating a high-gloss surface, colouring is the third and final step in a 3-step polishing process.

Satinising, Satin finishing

Satin finishing of metal is about creating decorative surfaces from matte to matte-glossy.
